The officers arrived at the location and found Brooks in the car and conducted a field sobriety test.
After failing the sobriety test, Rayshard resisted his arrest, a wrestle with two officers; Rolfe and Devin Brosnan followed. Throughout the struggle, an officer allegedly told Brooks to “stop fighting” and warned “hands off the taser.”
From the information obtained from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), witnesses described and video recorded Brooks wrestling the officers and making away with an officer’s Taser as the officers chased him. Brooks then turned as he ran and aimed the Taser at an officer (Garrett Rolfe). At that point, the officer (Garrett Rolfe) who Brooks aimed the Taser at fired his gun. Brooks died in surgery and one officer was treated for a minor injury.
