People have been wondering about the specifics of Jason Landry’s case since it became public, as it is strange. What helped solidify this curiosity was the episode dedicated to his disappearance in Season 1, Episode 8 of Paramount+’s Never Seen Again.
Since then, people have been speculating left and right about what happened to Landry. There is even a subreddit dedicated to Landry’s disappearance.
When an unconscious man was found in Bronx, New York, people assumed he was Landry based on minimal facial similarities and the maximum relevance Landry’s name still had on people’s minds.
Jason Landry Missing Update: Confused With Another NY Man Found
21-year-old Jason Landry, a student from Texas State University, went missing two years ago.
Landry disappeared on December 13, 2020, after a single car accident near 2635 Salt Flat Road in Luling, Texas. Authorities believe the young college student had been traveling home for Christmas break.
He hasn’t been seen or heard from since. Following reports of his disappearance, the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office searched for the boy tirelessly to no avail. There is currently a $10,000 reward for any information that might lead to finding Jason Landry.
This Friday, a person was found unconscious near University and Reservoir Avenues in the Bronx and looked similar to Jason Landry.
Following this discovery, the New York Police Department posted a picture of the man on their Twitter page stating that the man was discovered unconscious and unresponsive with no injuries, thankfully, but also no identifications. After NYPD posted the picture, people in the comments began to wonder if the man in the photo was the same as the boy who had disappeared in Texas.
The speculation became rampant as many people were confident that the man in the photo was Landry. Landry’s family mentioned in a Facebook post that detectives with the Texas Attorney’s General’s Office were in contact with the MYPD to share necessary ID information for the alleged Landry.
However, days later, the police discovered that the man in the picture was from Yonkers. His family apparently came across his photo and informed the police, and the man is currently back with his family, safe and sound.
What’s strange about the case is that the man’s backpack with some of his belongings, cellphones, and even clothes were strikingly similar to what the police think Landry was wearing as well as what was found near the crash scene. It all seems like a cruel joke played by some higher entity towards Landry’s family that they found someone they and the world thought was Landry, only for it to be someone else ultimately.
Jason Landry’s Family Cannot Grieve Yet, Father Says
Jason Landry’s father, Kent Landry, and mother, Lisa Landry, have stated that they haven’t given up hope of finding their son.
However, their hope is less belief that their son will return and more a sense of crystallized fear they don’t want to deal with. Both the parents are dealing with their son’s disappearance in different ways.
Kent Landry is dealing with it by being proactive and helping the police with their investigation, putting up signs and billboards, and helping to manage the various social media platforms where Jason’s disappearance is being publicized. He is also the defacto spokesperson about Jason’s disappearance to the media.
On the other hand, Lisa doesn’t want the limelight as much and doesn’t talk publicly about her son’s disappearance. The few times she has spoken about him, she has stated that she still expects him to walk through the door.
Both parents miss their boy very much and lean on each other for the support they desperately need.
What Happened to Jason Landry?
To this day, the details of Jason Landry’s case still befuddle the public and the authorities.
The boy simply disappeared, and nothing found on the scene or gleaned from his friends and family the days before has clued the authorities into what happened. No wonder it has captured the public’s attention as much.
We can only hope that Landry is found soon and/or his family receives some answers to what happened to him. They deserve as much.
