Minions Movie TikTok Trend Explained: Why Are Rise Of Gru Fans Banned In Theatre?

Minions Movie TikTok Trend Explained

The popular TikTok trend “#GentleMinions” appears to have become a reality-based counterpart to the “Tickets to ____ please” meme (for example, a picture of Tony Soprano and his crew with the caption “Six tickets for Barbie” pasted on it).

This meme has been used very frequently for a while, but it has recently seen a resurgence in interest thanks to the avalanche of set images for the Barbie movie and the release of the second movie in the Minions franchise.

Well, the new trend is not just about showing up to see movies in suits, but fans have pushed it to the extreme by cheering during the movie and praising other attendees for coming to watch the movie.

The popularity of the TikTok app has recently increased, which explains why Universal Pictures felt compelled to tweet about it. They posted on Twitter with the message, “to everyone showing up to @Minions in suits: we see you and we love you.”

It is not entirely obvious what percentage of those numbers can be attributed to the recent popularity of TikTok, but it is not difficult to fathom that the app could be responsible for a sizeable portion of the revenue. The theater industry is not a fan of the peculiar fad that has been going around on TikTok and does not see the humor in it.

A tweet sent out by the Regal Wadebridge, a tiny theater in the United Kingdom, expressed the business’s opinion on the matter. It stated, that at this time they are unable to accommodate unaccompanied youngsters who are dressed in costumes for the movie “Minions: The Rise of Gru”. This is a result of the problems that they have had over the past two days and the behavior that has accompanied them.

While some users are finding themselves in a state of confusion, others are drawing parallels between this prohibition and the novel 1984 by George Orwell.

Minions Movie TikTok: How To Do This Trend?

It is unclear where the viral fad first began, but despite the fact that it appears to be done in good fun. The trend includes many attendees bringing bananas, the snack of choice of a minion, and many theatres in the UK are not pleased by it.

However, there are those people who are content with the ongoing trend. The production company behind the movie “Minions,” Universal, has expressed their gratitude to the audience members who are attending screenings of the film while dressed to the nines. In a tweet, they stated, To everyone turning up to @Minions in suits: we see you and we love you.
