Michael “Mike” Scully (born October 2, 1956) is an American television writer and producer who is best known for his work on The X-Files. During his tenure as executive producer and showrunner of the animated sitcom The Simpsons, which ran from 1997 to 2001, he gained widespread recognition. She grew up in the town of West Springfield in the state of Massachusetts and has always had a passion for writing. Having struggled academically, he failed to graduate from high school and went on to work at various professions throughout his adult life. At some point, in 1986, he relocated to Los Angeles, where he worked as a stand-up comedian and as a writer for the vodka company Yakov Smirnoff. Scully went on to write for a number of television comedies before being recruited to write for The Simpsons, which premiered in 1993. He wrote twelve episodes for the show, including “Lisa on Ice” and “Team Homer,” and served as showrunner from seasons 9 through 12. In recognition of his efforts on the series, Scully received three Primetime Emmy Awards, with numerous newspapers applauding his episodes. However, some have characterised Scully’s stint as a period of deterioration in the show’s quality. Scully is still involved with the show, and he also contributed to the screenplay for The Simpsons Movie, which was released in 2007. Among his many television credits are co-creations of The Pitts and Complete Savages, as well as contributions to Everybody Loves Raymond and Parks and Recreation.
