Mike Rowe Biography
Mike Rowe is an American television host and narrator, working as the host of a Facebook produced series called Returning the Favor. He is well known for his work on the Discovery Channel series Dirty Jobs and the CNN series Somebody’s Gotta Do It.
He studied at Overlea High School and graduated in 1980, and shone in theater and singing under choir director Freddie King. He then studied at Essex Community College. He was named an Honorary Life Member of the Barbershop Harmony Society on July 8, 2017, at the Society’s international convention in Las Vegas. He graduated from Towson University in 1985, with a degree in communication studies.
He currently hosts a Facebook series known as Returning the Favor in which he finds people doing good deeds and does something for them in return. He is also the host of the podcast The Way I Heard It with Mike Rowe, he describes it as “short stories designed specifically for the curious mind plagued with a short attention span”.
He has narrated programs on The Science Channel, Discovery Channel, and National Geographic Channel such as How the Universe Works, Deadliest Catch, and Shark Week. He has made appearances in commercials for firms such as the Ford Motor Company.

The amount given was not stated in terms of dollars, but the organization refers to it as a “pile of money” and Rowe said the foundation has at least $500,000 to give away in a video announcing the 2018 scholarship.
Rowe says the scholarship program has so far given out about $5 million over the years. On the official page of the scholarship competition, it notes that all candidates should sign the “S.W.E.A.T. There must also be at least two references for candidates, except family members. We also need to submit an essay about why they want to work in the trades and what makes them worthy of the scholarship, together with a short video that helps to make their case.
