Michael Wayne Daniels Jr. was born on May 5, 1989 in Stratford, New Jersey.

During his time at Highland Regional High School, young Wayne played for the school football team as a running back and defensive tackle. He recorded 41 tackles and 6 sacks in his sophomore year, a total that only increased after each season, ending with 97 tackles, 12 sacks, and first-team conference honors for his senior year in high school.

Mike, who scored 25 touchdowns, also threw the shot put and discus. For his wrestling efforts, he served as a postman for three years. He accepted a scholarship from the University of Iowa after turning down Temple University. At Iowa, he missed his freshman year due to redshirt rules. He finally got his chance in his second season, which he finished with 10 tackles in 13 appearances.

Next season, his defensive game improved remarkably and saw him named Co-Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week after his career-high six shots on goal against Ball State. He was an honorable mention on the All-Big 10 team at the end of his junior year. Daniels played a crucial role in his team’s play in his final season with the Iowa Hawkeyes. He led the team in tackles for losses and sacks and also had 32 tackles from a solo effort. He finished the campaign as the second team of the 10 greatest players.

Mike Daniels was brought to the Green Bay Packers roster after picking him as the 132nd overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. After being drafted as a defensive end, Mike recorded 12 tackles and 2 sacks in 14 games. The following season, he had 28 tackles and 6.5 sacks, having played two more games than the previous season.

At the end of the 2017 season, the defender was rewarded with his first Pro Bowl appearance. He replaced the injured Aaron Donald in the 2018 Pro Bowl.
