Mike Bossy Obituary & Death Cause

According to Mike Bossy’s obituary, his cause of death was lung cancer. In an October letter to TVA Sports, he announced his diagnosis.

The renowned hockey player, who had won four Stanley Cups, died just months after revealing he had lung cancer.

Mike’s health remained stationary in 1987, and discomfort prevented him from leaning to tie his own skates, so he instead had a battery of x-rays and tests on his back. Doctors later determined that he had two damaged discs in his lower back that could not be healed surgically, forcing Bossy to miss the 1987–88 season in favor of treatment.

An Islanders spokesperson said Bossy was in his hometown of Montreal, where the club will face the Canadiens on Friday night. His daughter stated that Bossy adored football beyond everything else and was no longer in agony.
