Diagnosed with a mutated BRCA2 gene, Heaton went on a double mastectomy and breast reconstructive surgery in 2012 after finding that she had a chance to develop breast and ovarian cancer.
With her father being a BRCA2 carrier, the gene has a possibility of developing in her daughter’s body as well.
Heaton also underwent hysterectomy and oophorectomy in 2015 to reduce her risk on developing ovarian cancer.
In March 2021, Heaton’s whole family got infected by Covid-19. They were all recovered well.
