Catherine Deneuve’s net worth, biography, fact, career, awards and life story

Catherine Deneuve net worth: Catherine Deneuve is a French actress who has a net worth of $75 million. Catherine Deneuve gained recognition for her portrayal of aloof and mysterious beauties in 1960’s films like Repulsion and Belle de jour. She was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress in 1993 for her role in Indochine and has appeared in seven English-language films, most notable the 1983 cult classic, The Hunger. Deneuve was born Catherine Fabienne Dorléac in Paris, France to French stage and screen actor Maurice Dorléac and actress Renée Deneuve. Catherine Deneuve has two sisters, Françoise Dorléac (who died in a tragic car crash in 1967) and Sylvie Dorléac, she also has a maternal half-sister named Danielle. The girls were raised in a Catholic household, and attended Catholic schools. When Deneuve was 13, she began her film career with a small role in Les Collégiennes; it was during this role that Catherine decided to use her mother’s maiden name, Deneuve, professionally in order to differentiate herself from her elder sister, Francoise, who was also an actress. The film that brought her stardom was the 1964 musical Les Parapluies de Cherbourg, which led to additional prominent roles in Repulsion (1965) and Belle de Jour (1967)—as the haut-bourgeois housewife who achieves sexual satisfaction working in a Parisian brothel. In 1965, Deneuve appeared nude in a Playboy pictorial. Known as one of the most beautiful women in the world, her image was used to represent Marianne, the national symbol of France, from 1985 to 1989. As the face of Chanel No. 5 in the late 1970s, she caused sales of the perfume to soar in the United States – so much so that the American press nominated her as the world’s most elegant woman. In the 1980s, Deneuve’s films included The Last Metro, which garnered her the César Award for Best Actress, and The Hunger, where she played a bisexual Manhattan vampire. In the early 1990s, Deneuve’s more significant roles included 1992’s Indochine, which garnered her a second César Award for Best Actress and an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress. Outside of acting, Deneuve has been active in charity as well as politics. She is fluent in French, Italian, English and is semi-fluent in German.
