Michael Scully die due to a helicopter crash in January 1994, according to AP News. Scully and two other men were inspecting the pipeline for leaks, which was shut down after the 6.6 magnitude earthquake in Northridge.
During the inspection, the helicopter was trying to land at an Acro pumping facility west of Interstate 5 and northwest of Fort Tejon.
Robert Preston, who resides near the crash site, thought that the helicopter didn’t sound right when it neared his house, and later it crashed into a hillside near the pumping plant.
Scully was 33 years old when he died in the helicopter crash and worked at the ARCO Transportation Company.

Scully’s mother was Joan Crawford, who was Vin Scully’s first wife.
Crawford died of an accidental medical overdose, Vin and Joan married each other on February 15, 1958, and they were married for 15 years. The pair had three kids two sons and one daughter. Michael is the eldest son.
Later he married Sandra Hunt in 1973. The couple was married for 48 years before her demise in January 2021. She was battling Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). With Sandra, he only has a daughter Catherine Scully.
