Before fame, Michael worked as the seventh of nine children who were born to a Catholic-German American based on the north side of Pitssburgh, Pennsylvania.He then graduated from North Carolina High School in 1977 and pursued English studies at Naropa University during the 1979-80. Michael was then able to grdauate cumalude from the University of Pittsburgh in 1983 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Literature in 1983.
Later, Rectenwald earned his master’s degree in English Literature from the Case Western Reserve University in 1977. From there, he became a tutor at various local universities since the year 1983 and became a New York University Professor of Liberal and Global Liberal Studies for more than a decade before he finally retired and Kick starinbg his career as an author and a Sexularism expert.
Michael is also known as a critic of the contemporary social justice movement and its effects in the academy. He describes his criticisms in his self-written memoir called Springtime for Snowflakes: Social Justice and Its Postmodern Parentage that was published in 2018. He attended North Catholic High School in 1977 and pursued undergraduate studies in English at Naropa University from 1979-1980.
