Meet Anjali Ramkissoon, the Indian doctor who attacked the Uber driver in Miami

Reactions vary when faced with different situations at different times. Whether it is raging emotions or turmoil, the effects they have on the affected person are undeniable. While some have learned or imagined ways to control their emotions, many others are still in control of their wild emotions that have seemingly defied taming. Anjali Ramkissoon is among those who have struggled with their emotions.

She is an Indian doctor at an American hospital before the incident that brought her to the media: attacking an Uber driver in Miami, which is considered far removed from the high standards of her profession. Let’s meet Anjali Ramkissoon.

Who is Anjali Ramkissoon? The Indian doctor who attacked an Uber driver in Miami

There won’t be much to dig into his past information as there is little to keep in line. Anjali was a fourth-year neurology resident at the University of Miami, Jackson. Her studies focus on headaches and sleep medicine and she has also been involved in research on epilepsy.

In early 2016, a video titled Drunk Girl tries to hijack an Uber and destroys her car! surfaced with the testimony of a teenage resident doctor (Anjali) attacking an Uber driver. The video which was made by a worried viewer went viral and caused the lady a lot of backlash, which even cost her her job.

Video of the attack was posted online in January. On April 19, 2016, the virus went viral and was discharged from hospital in April 2016, where she has less than a year to complete her program. The viral video has been viewed over 7 million times, sparking a lot of outrage and controversy.

However, the hospital said Anjali was entitled to an appeal process.

What inspired the assault?

Life has a way of trying our patience and letting us decide the outcome and our reaction, probably to those under our control. According to Anjali when she appeared on Good Morning America following the release of the Ubervideo driver attack, her boyfriend, radiologist Sean O’Neill, of two years had just broken up with her. You could say that is not a good enough reason to inflict on another the pain you face in such a situation, but remember that she is human too and is affected by events. What do we do, the deed has already been done.

Upon realizing her predicament, she downed a few drinks herself and got drunk. Although she came with her own car, she could not go home, that is, the driver came into the scene.

In any case, the driver was not there for her in the car.first place. Juan Cinco (the man who filmed the incident) ordered the car to take him, his friend, home from the village of Mary Brickell in Miami, Florida on that fateful Sunday, January 17, 2016 night.

Anjali Ramkissoon who arrived at that time in the back seat of the car, forcing the driver to accompany her even when she had made no reservation. Of course, the driver didn’t want to drive her but told her to get out of her car instead. At that point, she became furious and started hitting, kicking and swearing at the driver. She may be petite at only 5ft and barely weigh 100lbs, but she exuded such energy that it would leave one wondering how strong she is holding.

She also went further to throw some of the driver’s property such as mail, cell phone, electronics and other devices and possessions out the window facing the street. So much for a health professional. Do you know how it goes? A higher level is placed on certain professions such as his.

The day after the event

The driver couldn’t stand it any longer and had to call the police. Before they arrived, Anjali, who seemed to have already been sated with anger, left the stage with the car keys between her fingers. Of course, she fought and kicked the police, but she realized the developing situation and felt remorse when she was put in the police vehicle.

Anjali Ramkissoon started crying, apologizing and saying she would lose her medical license if she was arrested. The Uber driver, who was such a good man, chose to remain anonymous and even refused to press charges. Instead, he decided to take a cash settlement, which was enough to pay his cell phone bill and probably his cable bill.

But this was not the case in his workplace and with Internet users. Jackson Health System placed her on administrative leave after the video surfaced and she was fired from her job in April 2016.

Additionally, the University of Miami noted all pages mentioning his name since the incident. Uber suspended his account even as the matter was still under investigation.

Although she later apologized for the incident, some netizens wouldn’t hear of it. Some have criticized it for revoking its license and giving it all the nasty names and titles you could imagine. However, some were kind and felt she could be forgiven, considering she was human and he was bound to make human mistakes on occasion, citing her wrongdoing as an aberration.
