Meek Mill Biography

Meek Mill was born on May 6, 1987 in AmsterdamSouth Philadelphia. His family was not well and to make matters worse his father was killed when he was only five years old. After the death of his father, Meek Mill’s mother moved her family to North Philadelphia, where she began cutting her hair and doing other odd jobs to support her family.

Meek Mill was a shy and quiet child. Fortunately, he met one of his father’s brothers when he was younger. This uncle was a pioneering disc jockey known as Grandmaster Nell who inspired rap artists like DJ Jazzy Jeff and Will Smith. Meek’s relationship with him sparked an interest in hip-hop, and the rapper was influenced by many of the people who moved in his uncle’s circle.

Due to this early hip hop influence, Meek Mill started getting involved in rap battles when he was a teenager. It was then that he adopted the pseudonym Meek Millz. He formed a group with three friends they called The Bloodhoundz and they dubbed their music onto blank CDs and encouraged friends to distribute them. Around the same time, Meek Mill was arrested for illegally possessing a firearm at the age of 18 while walking to the corner store. He was beaten up, causing his lips and eyes to swell and one of his pigtails to be ripped from his head. Despite the apparent injuries he sustained, he was accused of assaulting the police officers and two black police officers issued a statement claiming that he pursued her with a gun and tried to kill her. This resulted in Mill being placed on probation.

The Bloodhoundz released a total of four mixtapes before moving on to their personal careers. While in the group Meek Mill had released his own solo mixtapes but in 2008 he released the fourth called Flamers 2: Hottest in tha City. The mixtape brought him to the attention of Charlie Mack, who was president of 215 Aphillyated Records. In 2008, Meek Mill also hooked up with TI, who owned Grand Hustle Records. The two record companies offered him a deal and Meek Mill left with TI Unfortunately, that same year he was arrested and charged with drug and gun possession. He was serving a seven-month sentence that prevented any immediate work with the label. Indeed, Meek Mills and T.Is’ respective troubles with the law meant

By 2011, Meek Mill was signed by Rick Ross to his Maybach Music Group label. In August of that year, he released a mixtape called Dreamchasers after appearing on a number of label projects. The second installment of the Dreamchasers series came out in 2012 and on May 10th of that year it was announced that the rapper had signed with Roc Nation Management.

Meek Mill announced in October 2012 the launch of his own label, Dream Chasers Records. He continued to collaborate frequently with Maybach Music Group labelmates.

Wealth (income and earnings)

Meek Mill may have come from a home where his father died young and his mother struggled to get money to raise her children. He may even have had some legal issues that took his time, but the rapper has managed to grow his net worth to $14 million and he doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon.

In a relationship with Nicki Minaj

After he was released from prison in 2014, Meek Mill began dating fellow rapper Nicki Minaj, even presiding over her on her 2015 world tour. The two remained stable for two years, but in January 2017, news of their breakup became public known.

They were fairly private during their relationship and even after the breakup, not much was made clear other than the fact that they had communication issues that ultimately resulted in insurmountable problems.

Why did he go to jail?

As can be seen from all the above, Meek Mills legal troubles started at a young age. Worst of all, however, was an imprisonment in November 2017. The judge had sentenced him to two to four years in prison for violating his probation. There was much uproar and social outcry for his release, but he went on to serve five months at Chester at Chester, a Pennsylvania state correctional facility. He was released after five months while his trial continued.
