Melissa Blair from Mcminn County is an Englewood resident who is charged with 23 counts of child rape.
On December 9, 2021, the McMinn County Sheriff’s Department received a referral from the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services. It indicated Blair had sexual encounters with male juveniles who attended McMinn Central High School.
That’s when her background was thoroughly investigated, and a total of 23 charges were brought against her.
The McMinn County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at Blair’s home on December 15. She was then barred from using school property or participating in school-sponsored activities.
Blair was, however, not an employee of the school. But was involved in school clubs, like other parents are”, says the Director of school, Lee Parkison.
She traded items for sexual encounters from Spring 2020 to late 2021, according to McMinn County Sheriff Joe Guy at a press conference on Tuesday.
Guy stated that the encounters began through social media communication.
Parkison stated that the investigation was launched after an anonymous letter was left in his office. “Without them, this could still be happening,” Parkison said, thanking the person who wrote the letter.
Melissa Blair Was Arrested For Multiple Rape and Assault Charges
Melissa Blair was arrested by Mcminn County on multiple rape and assault charges and booked into the McMinn County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
She was charged with 23 counts total, including 18 counts of aggravated statutory rape, four counts of human trafficking by patronizing prostitution.
And one count of solicitation of a minor, according to a statement released Tuesday afternoon.
According to officials, out of nine victims that have come forward, seven of them are minors, while the other two are now legal adults.
However, Sherrif Guy believes that there may be other junevile victims who are hesitant to talk forward. The officers encourage them to contact the officer or their parents to do so.”
“We encourage other victims who are now adults to contact us,” Sheriff Guy said.
They assure that they want to provide support and resources to the victim and their parents.
District Attorney General Steve Crump of the 10th Judicial District urged other parents and victims to step forward as well.
