Maura Tierney parents: Meet Pat Tierney & Joseph M. Tierney

Maura Tierney achieved success outside of television when she defeated Lauren Graham, a guest star from NewsRadio’s fourth season, in the Celebrity Poker Showdown tournament’s second season in 2004. Tierney made a comeback to the stage in May 2006 when she appeared alongside Eric McCormack in the Off-Broadway debut of Some Girl(s).

In 2008, she appeared in a number of films, including Semi-Pro, Baby Mama, The Go-Getter, and Finding Amanda, showcasing her acting talent. Tierney and Dylan McDermott costarred as Laurel from September 16 to October 4 in the Off-Broadway drama Three Changes.

Tierney went on to work in theater and movies before coming back to television in 2009. She portrayed Kelly McPhee, a recurrent character, on the FX drama series Rescue Me in both 2009 and 2011. She also took over as the female lead in the 2010 ABC television series The Whole Truth after Joely Richardson quit the program to prioritize her family.

In this Jerry Bruckheimer-produced legal drama, Tierney made her television comeback after completing her recovery from breast surgery and cancer treatments. Sadly, ABC canceled The Whole Truth after only four episodes owing to low ratings.

Tierney, had a well-known political career in Boston and served on the Boston City Council for 15 years, his mother, Pat (née James), worked as a real estate broker.

American politician Joseph M. Tierney passed away on December 13, 2009. From 1972 through 1987, he served in a council position for Boston. He presided over the City Council in 1977, 1979, and from 1983 to 1985 throughout his time there.

He ran for mayor of Boston in 1987 but lost to Raymond Flynn, who had already been elected, by a vote total of 67% to 33%. He was Maura Tierney’s father, who is notable.
