Matthew William Dellavedova is an Australian-born basketball player who is currently a part of the Sacramento Kings of the National Basketball Association (NBA).
He joined the Cleveland Cavaliers for the 2013 NBA Summer League while playing collegiate basketball at Saint Mary’s after going undrafted in the 2013 NBA draft. Dellavedova signed a two-year, $1.3 million contract with the Cavaliers in September 2013, and he later had a successful career with the team.
He scored a career-high 21 points in March 2014, and he also participated in the Rising Stars Challenge during the NBA All-Star weekend in February 2015. In the final game of the regular season against the Washington Wizards in April 2015, he finished with 18 points and 12 assists.
LeBron James and NBA legend Charles Barkley defended Dellavedova’s aggressive style of play during the 2015 NBA Playoffs, which was questioned by some.
Thanks in large part to Dellavedova’s significant role in their historic victory in the 2016 NBA championship, the Cavaliers became the first team in NBA history to win the title despite falling behind 3-1 in their series against the Golden State Warriors.
