the biography
Marwin Javier Gonzalez was born on March 14, 1989 in Puerto Ordaz, Bolivar, Venezuela. As a child, Gonzalez learned to play baseball from his father, Mario Gonzalez, an avid baseball fan who was also a coach and scout. As the story goes, Gonzalez’s father worked tirelessly to shape his son’s career path in baseball. He was reportedly very strict when it came to his son as he offered him no preferential treatment in his team.
After generating a lot of interest in his talents in his home country, Marwin Gonzalez, who could play in any position, was signed as an international free agent by the Chicago Cubs as a 16-year-old amateur in 2005. He then joined his new team for a short mini-camp in Puerto Cabello, Venezuela before being assigned to an Arizona Rookie League team. However, after a poor performance where he hit .198 in 24 games, the Cubs sent him to the Dominican Republic for further development. Between then and 2011, Gonzalez played for a number of minor league outfits in Boise, Daytona Beach and Oklahoma City,
Marwin Gonzalez continued to make the Astros’ roster opener in 2012 as he slowly became a central part of the team due to his ability to play anywhere on the court. In 2017, he and the Astros won the American League before beating the Los Angeles Dodgers in seven World Series games to claim the Texas-based team’s first World Series title.
The family of Marwin Gonzalez

Mario Jr. is said to have reached Class A level before suffering an injury that led to his early retirement from the sport. Leonard, on the other hand, was never able to sign a professional contract, so he moved on.
Aside from Marwin, his son, Mario Gonzalez Sr. helped develop many other talents who got to play in the Major League. Some of them are Víctor Martinez, the former designated hitter for the Detroit Tigers, Carlos Hernandez, a former catcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers, and German Marquez, the starting pitcher for the Colorado Rockies.
