Martika Children: Does Martika have kids?

Martika’s debut record, which bears her name, debuted in 1988 and peaked at number 15 on the US charts. Martika co-wrote the album’s top-charting song, “Toy Soldiers,” with her producer Michael Jay. It was extremely successful in the UK, Ireland, Germany, and Australia, where it peaked at number five.

In 1989, “Toy Soldiers” not only peaked at number one in New Zealand but also topped the charts for two weeks in the US. “More Than You Know” and “I Feel the Earth Move,” two further songs from the album, peaked in the top 40 in the US and found success on the dance and singles charts in both that country and the UK.

“Water,” Martika’s fourth single from the album, performed middlingly on the charts in the UK and Australia. In 1990, the album was awarded platinum certification in the UK and double platinum in Australia.

Martika collaborated on the song “Kiss Me Quick” in 1990 with Marvin Morrow and Michael Jay. Alisha, a freestyle/pop singer, covered the song for her album Bounce Back, and Martika sang background vocals.

Martika became a soundtrack composer because of her work in the film industry. For the movie Arachnophobia, she composed and recorded the song “Blue Eyes Are Sensitive to the Light” in 1990. The song was eventually redone by Sara Hickman since the movie’s producers disapproved of her singing.
