Marquis Rodriguez is an American actor who rose to prominence after appearing in Phoebe in Wonderland, in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and many others.
Rodriguez has also appeared in other films like, Definitely, Maybe and Saturday Church and television series such as Blue Bloods, The Affair, Chicago Fire and When They See Us.
Marquis also appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe Netflix series Luke Cage and Iron Fist, working with Finn Jones, Jessica Henwick and Sacha Dhawan in the latter.
In addition, he played young Simba in the Broadway version of The Lion King.
Marquis is also set to portray a to-be-confirmed character in Game of Thrones: The Long Night.

Rodriguez portrayed Darryl in the Luke Cage episode Take It Personal and the Iron Fist episodes Shadow Hawk Takes Flight, Rolling Thunder Cannon Punch, Eight Diagram Dragon Palm, Felling Tree with Roots and Black Tiger Steals Heart.
Darryl is a former student to Colleen Wing. He trained and prepared to become a loyal soldier of the Hand.
He is a bright spirit and often optimistic of himself and those around him. Darryl is also ambitious in his goals and mature.
Through series of from Colleen Wing at the Chikara Dojo, Darryl managed to grasp some forms of martial art fighting. After receiving further training at the Hand Compound, he, at one point, thought his skills could match those of Danny Rand.
One day, he arrived at Chikara Dojo to perform his routine janitorial duties, he found Danny Rand meditating to loud music.
Later that day, he was given teaching duties over the class. When Rand arrived, Darryl gave him the floor where he made attempts to teach the students similarly to his experience in K’un-Lun.
Marquis Rodriguez When They See Us
Marquis is starring in a Netflix miniseries When They See Us, which is about the innocent teens who were branded the “Central Park Five”.
The teens were wrongly convicted of the rape of a white female jogger in the 1989 Central Park case. The five teens served 6 to 13 years in prison before their convictions were overturned when another man confessed to the crime; DNA confirmed his guilt and exonerated them.
The five teens who are now grown men are Antron McCray, Kevin Richardson, Yusef Salaam, Raymond Santana Jr., and Korey Wise.
Marquis will be portraying Raymond Santana in the miniseries. Raymond was only 14 years old when he was arrested in 1989 and was incarcerated for close to seven years for the jogger case.
Raymond admitted that reliving the moments is painful but worth it.
“It brings back the pain; it brings back the memories. But it’s necessary. I was ready and I was willing to relive, to go through that pain again, to cry — because it’s necessary. It’s a sacrifice. You want to change the culture, you’ve got to be engaged. This is how we got engaged.”
Marquis who will be portraying Raymond spoke about their characters saying;
“In that scene when Raymond, Kevin, Yusef, and Antron are in the holding cell, you’re literally watching four boys have to work through really adult issues and they decide to tell the truth from there on out. But they shouldn’t have to do that. That should not be their burden, to have to disentangle themselves from adult lies. It’s often children of color’s work.”
” As a cast, we were vulnerable with each other, we wept with each other and talked about the work with each other. We absolutely formed a brotherhood between us, and I think I’m so grateful for it.”

Rumors about Rodriguez being gay began he was cast in the 2017 American musical fantasy drama film, Saturday Church. The film explores the life of fourteen-year-old Ulysses, who is gay. He gets bullied at school by his classmates and threatened at home by his conservative Aunt Rose for his feminine characteristics.
This is until one night Ulysses meets a group of transgender and gay individuals, Ebony, Dijon, Raymond, and Heaven. Ebony invites him to Saturday Church, a program run at a church every Saturday to feed and provide shelter for LGBT youths.
Rodriguez plays the character, Raymond, Ulysses love interest. They both have mutual feelings.
