Marlaw Biography
Marlaw born Lawrence Marima Madole, is a Tanzanian musician. He was born in 1984. He is popularly known for his hit singles; ‘Bembeleza’, ‘Rita’ and ‘Pii Pii Mising My Baby’.
He started writing his own songs at the start of his secondary education. Marlaw sang in church and at school where he would perform to his friends and at times the entire school.
In 2004 he joined Coca Cola Popstars competition held in three countries; Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. The competition aimed at getting a group of three artists from each country. He was unsuccessful in the competition. Marlaw had this to say about the competition, “The judges told me not to give up on music and for them I was one among the best. It stayed in my mind and gave courage to my music everyday.”
After his secondary education, he immediately released his first single “bembeleza” at the end of February 2007. The song became a hit in the entire East Africa region.
