Australian politician and media pundit Mark William Latham was a member of the New South Wales Legislative Council when he was born on February 28, 1961.
He was elected to Sydney’s south-Liverpool west City Council in 1987 and served as mayor from 1991 to 1994.
Latham served as both the club’s president and a rugby union player for the Liverpool Bulls. From 1968, he has also supported the St. George Dragons rugby league team.
During Latham’s tenure as mayor, the council underwent radical reform, with significant expenditures on public works that were paid for by a mix of loans and savings through the outsourcing of numerous municipal functions.
