Marie-Mai Siblings: Meet Marie-Mai Sister Soline Bouchard

Marie-Mai (born Marie-Mai Bouchard on July 7, 1984 in Varennes, Quebec) is a Quebec singer. She rose to prominence as one of the finalists in the first season of the Quebec reality show Star Académie.

She was a finalist in the 2003 edition, where her pop-rock style drew immediate attention. She finished third, trailing competition runner-up Marie-Elaine Thibert and eventual winner Wilfred Le Bouthillier.

After the Star Académie tour concluded in 2004, she joined the Montreal cast of Jonathan Larson’s rock-opera musical Rent, which was performed at the Olympia Theatre.

In Hawaii, she married her producer, Fred St-Gelais, in September 2011. Since 2006, the couple had been engaged. The couple split up in early 2016 and later divorced.

Marie-Mai took part in the anti-bullying campaign a finit là (“It Ends Here”) in December 2011, and made a video in which she revealed that she had been bullied because of her ADHD.

Marie-Mai has been dating La Voix musical director David Laflèche since 2016, and on February 15, 2017, she gave birth to their daughter Gisèle.

Marie-Mai released “Jamais trop tard,” a duet with Jonas, as the first single from her fifth album in January 2014. The song topped the radio charts. The recalls of her Bell Centre shows (May 2 and 3) were used to debut three M songs: “Conscience”, “Tourner”, and “Bout Portant”. M was released on May 12, 2014, with a bang: three new music videos, “Conscience,” “Tourner,” and “Indivisible,” were released on the same day. Within two months, the record was certified gold for 40,000 copies sold.

Marie-Miroir Mai’s tour show at the Bell Centre premiered in Quebec cinemas in July 2014. “Marie-Mai live au Centre Bell: Traverser le Miroir” piqued the interest of her fans right away and was shown in 50 theatres across Quebec. The show’s DVD was released in November 2014 and was certified triple platinum for 30,000 copies sold.
