France Lemay and Jean-Pierre Bouchard gave birth to her. Her mother was a teacher, and her father was an actor, to discuss her parent’s professions.

She also has a sister, an elder sister by the name of Soline Bouchard. She went to Ste-Foy Primary School for her education. During her time at school, she also engaged in musical theater and took piano lessons, which led to her developing an interest in music.

She started singing soon after, and her grandma encouraged her to enter a new competition called “Star Academies,” where she placed third. She appeared in several productions at Montreal’s Theatre Musical in 2001.

On September 28, 2004, Marie-Mai released her debut album, “Inoxuydable,” and a number of its tracks quickly rose to the top of the Quebec charts, including “Il faut que tu ten ailles” and “Encore une nuit,” which topped the Radio Energy charts.
