Mike Portnoy net worth: Mike Portnoy is an American drummer who is probably best known for the band Dream Theater. Mike Portnoy has a net worth of $8 million. Mike Portnoy is the co-founder of Dream Theater. Portnoy has also helped to form other bands such as Liquid Tension Experiment, Flying Colors and Adrenaline Mob. He has performed with such artists as Stone Sour, Overkill, Fates Warning and others. He left Dream Theater in 2010 and began many other projects. Portnoy also has instructional videos such as “Progressive Drum Concepts,” “Liquid Drum Theater” and “In Constant Motion.” From his production company Portnoy has released several “drum cam” DVD’s such as “Drums of Thought,” “Drumming Colors,” “Drums Across Forever” and many more which contain recordings of bands, drum solos and commentaries. Mike Portnoy was born in Long Beach, New York in 1967 and was raised on Long Island. While in high school he played in the local bands and released albums on an independent label. He earned a scholarship to Berklee College of Music in Boston and hooked up with John Petrucci and John Myung and formed the band Dream Theater which at the time was known as Majesty. Portnoy married the former guitarist of the female band “Meanstreak,” Marlene nee Apuzzo. They live in their Pennsylvania home with their two children Melody Ruthandrea and Max John. Portnoy has won several Readers Poll Awards (26) from Modern Drummer magazine and is the second youngest drummer to be inducted in the Modern Drummers Hall of Fame.
