Marcus Williams bio
Marcus Alan Williams was born on September 8, 1996 in Pomona, California. He grew up playing basketball and didn’t fall in love with soccer until he was 7 after attending one of his brother’s games. Williams received his high school education from Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Eastvale, California, where he played multisport football, basketball and track. In high school, he played both defensively and offensively.
In his senior year, he recorded 60 tackles, 6 interceptions (returned for 175 yards), one pass breakup and forced fumble as a defensive back, and 41 receptions for 924 yards and 9 touchdowns as a wide receiver. On the academic side, he was an outstanding student. Because of his combined athletic and academic skills, Marcus Williams was courted by several colleges, including the University of Washington and the University of California. Eventually, however, he settled on the University of Utah.
In Utah, Williams continued his good form; He completed three seasons at the school (2014–2016) and had 189 breaks, four tackles for loss, 19 passes defended, four forced errors and three forced recoveries in 37 games. As a senior, Williams was named a second-team Pro Football Focus All-American and a second-team All-Pac-12.
Marcus Williams entered the NFL draft in 2017 and was selected in the 2nd round by the New Orleans Saints. He was the 42nd overall winner that year and the Saints suspended him on a four-year, $6,240,000 contract. Despite being a beginner, the Saints gave Williams the job of running to safety, and he didn’t disappoint. He started all games in his rookie season and had 70 tackles (56 solos), four interceptions and six pass defenses, which helped the Saints qualify for the division playoffs.
Not surprisingly, William’s costly mistake went viral and he’s been the subject of several hurtful memes on social media. However, instead of being put off, Marcus Williams is determined to turn his nightmare into motivation.
