Marc Silverman ESPN 1000
From 2007, Silverman, Tom Waddle, and Kyle Schwarber have been radio partners at ESPN 1000. Silverman failed to get a job at WSIU, the professional radio station on campus, as a freshman at Southern Illinois. He asked the sports director how he could improve since he was not qualified to be on the air.
Silverman was given a tape recorder by the director and told to cover high school football games on Friday nights. He did that for his whole first semester. Every Friday night, he would get in the car, he would cover local southern Illinois football games, and he got better. He was put on the air in the second semester by the station.
As a junior and senior, Silverman was a sports director for WIDB, the student-run station on campus. Silverman’s first professional job was at KILR in Estherville, Iowa, where he spent 18 months earning $900 a month. He figured no one was going to come to find him in Iowa, so he had to go find work back home. In February 1995, he took a three-month internship at WGN Radio, earning $900 thousand dollars in total.
Silverman moved back in together with his parents and took a part-time job doing morning-drive sports updates at the Illinois Radio Network. He had to head over to WGN in the afternoon and cover a game at night. Silverman tried to get my foot in the door in the big city by proving that he would outwork everybody.
That is the reason why he took the chance. He would basically show up at 5 in the morning, and he would get home at 11:30 at night because he wanted to do that. He made a name for himself at WGN due to Some good fortune. He offered to cover Bulls and Blackhawks games because no one else at the station did.
Marc Silverman House
Silverman moved from the city to the northern suburbs, for a four-bedroom, 4,014-square-foot house, where he paid $950,000 thousand dollars, in Riverwoods and selling his longtime condo in Ukrainian Village for $644,000. Silverman’s new house had been listed for $1 million dollars.
The house has 41/2 baths, a fully finished walk-out lower level, crown moldings, built-ins in most rooms, and refinished floors. He said with his wife, they had planned to originally move to the suburbs sometime next year, but due to the hot real estate market, he changed his mind.
With his wife, they listed their three-bedroom condo for $649,900 and closed just weeks later. In 2010, he paid $558,500 for the multilevel unit, which is in a building constructed in 2007. Silverman said that it was very hard to leave Ukrainian Village, it has so many great restaurants and shops.
Marc Silverman Cancer Diagnosis | Waddle and Silvy
Besides Silverman being known as an emotional guy, his recent cancer diagnosis has steeled him. Silverman was surprised he didn’t tear up about the swollen lymph nodes he discovered in his neck and then groin a few weeks ago and the subsequent doctor visits, bloodwork, tests, and scans that led to discovering he has non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
