One Osuagwu Chidubem has been apprehended by the Enugu State Police Command and their counterparts in the Imo State Command at Nekede Owerri while trying to sell the Toyota Corolla he stole from his slain lover, one Amarachi Chukwu (aged 32).
The suspect committed the murder on 01/11/2022 at the deceased’s home in Meniru, Awkunanaw, Enugu, according to the Enugu police.
According to the investigation, “the suspect and his cohort at large had conspired and visited the victim’s residence in the morning hours of the said date, and attempted to take the key to the victim’s Toyota Corolla, which the victim resisted.”
They allegedly locked her inside the house with the windows rolled up, drove away in her car, and bound her hands, legs, and mouth with cloths.
“Her decomposing remains were, however, found in the said apartment on 04/11/2022, after the door was forced opened by Police Operatives serving in Ikirike Police Division of the Command,” said Enugu State Police Public Relations Officer PPRO, Daniel Ndukwe, DSP, in a statement released to newsmen on Friday night.
“The Operatives evacuated the remains to the hospital, where doctors confirmed her dead and the corpse deposited in the mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
“The suspect was consequently arraigned in court upon conclusion of the investigation and has been remanded in Custodial Centre custody till the further hearing of the court.”
