As for Mal’s wife, she was Vivian. Together, they had three children, Erin (Eddie), Scott (Michele), and Kim (Paul, and grandchildren, Abby, Gillian, Andrew, Malcolm, Zoe, Evan, Mitchell, and Taylor. Further, his family includes two sisters, Dorothy and Carol (Bill), a brother Dale, many niblings. His brother-in-law is Tom, and his sister-in-law is Janet.
Asquith, Saskatchewan born – he grew up playing hockey and baseball. With love for sports, his broadcasting journey began at 21, working at radio stations in Weyburn, Yorkton, Regina, and Sudbury, Ontario.
Before his venture with CBC Sports (radio and television sportscaster) in 1974, Issac used to work at the Saskatoon Star Phoenix and Regina Leader-Post as a sports writer. Likewise, he used to coach hockey and baseball in Regina’s minor sports.
During his 21 years with CBC, a heavy, wooden TV backdrop fell on him once. After that, he returned to the set with a Roughriders equipment manager sent football helmet on.
