The same thing had happened to Maisie McCullough as she got the wrong person in her life. And that wrong person had taken her life, leaving her baby alone.
Maisie McCullough Murder Update
Shelly Leitz, mother of Derek upon returning home, found the door open. She didn’t find her son and grandson at the place but, the bloodstain took her to Maisie’s dead body.
She found Maisie’s body in the bathtub and called the police immediately. Upon investigation, it didn’t take long for the police to suspect Derek.
He had uncontrollable rage, and often Shelly and Maisie became victims of his violence. Shelly became a prisoner at her own home due to fear of her son.
On the other hand, Maisie decided to leave him and began to see a new man in her life. Offended Derek, killed Maisie, and plot a plan to kill her boyfriend.
He fled with their two years old son. Derek took the boy to the motel but, upon the police amber alert, the motel authorities informed them about their whereabouts to the police.
With not many difficulties, they were able to get hold of Derek and rescue the boy. Maisie was a lovely girl who was optimistic and wanted to get into the medical field.
Where is Husband Derek Campos Now?
Maisie’s husband, Derek Campos, is still behind the bar. Derek was caught for murdering Maisie which, didn’t stop him from committing more crimes.
Being behind the bar, he hired his cellmate to kill Maisie’s boyfriend. As compensation, he gave him a car, an AK-47, along cash amount to $4,600.
He denied the accusations but, the jury convicted him of 1st-degree intentional homicide. He was sentenced to life in prison with probable parole after 40 years.
He is serving his life sentence at the Green Bay Correctional Institution in Allouez, Wisconsin.
