Madeline Mae Poppe, a talented singer-songwriter and musician, was born in the US on December 5, 1997, and she took first place in the 16th season of American Idol. In addition to being a terrific singer, she is a gifted multi-instrumentalist who can play the guitar, piano, and ukulele.
Before winning American Idol, Poppe self-released an album called “Songs from the Basement.” In 2019, she signed with Hollywood Records and released her first studio album, “Whirlwind.”
Poppe’s debut album, “Songs from the Basement,” was independently published on June 20, 2016, launching her musical career.
That same month, she was given the opportunity to open for the country band Diamond Rio at the Butler County Fair, which gave her the chance to perform in front of a larger audience.
Before becoming well-known on American Idol, Poppe participated in the 2016 auditions for the tenth season of The Voice, another renowned singing competition.
She was eliminated from the competition because none of the judges—Adam Levine, Pharrell Williams, Christina Aguilera, and Blake Shelton—were impressed by her rendition of Florence and the Machine’s “Dog Days Are Over” during her audition. Despite this setback, she received special appreciation from her hometown of Clarksville at a library event.
