Macushla House – Nairobi Kenya

Macushla House Nairobi Kenya

Macushla, Gaelic for my beloved, was the name chosen by the founder of Macushla House, whose desire was to welcome those seeking the natural joys of life. Charmed by the warmth and hospitality of the Irish on a visit to the Emerald Isle in the last century, he wanted to recreate this spirit of openness in Nairobi.

Macushla House has been described as a country inn close to Nairobi. It can comfortably accommodate 12 guests in 6 en-suite bedrooms. There are 2 lounges with covered verandas and fireplaces, furnished with an eclectic mix of artifacts from countries as far afield as Yemen and Australia. The house also has a small bar and a restaurant. The swimming pool, set in lush indigenous bush, is home to a water fountain dragon and rings to the tune of wind chimes and bird song. The garden and its immediate surroundings have been left to nature.

Macushla House, in the suburb of Langata, is within easy reach of Nairobi National Park, the Giraffe Centre, the Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, the Karen Blixen Museum and Karen shops. Excursions to these and other destinations can all be organised on request.
