Mackenzie Bourg biography (age and other background information)
Mackenzie Bourg was born on September 11, 1992, in Lafayette, Louisiana, to Rudy Bourg and Michelle Arceneaux. Although he is now pursuing a career in music, sport was Bourg’s first love. During his years at St. Thomas More High in Lafayette, he was an active basketball player, but then something happened that cut short his athletic career and forced him to think about something else.
Bourg was nearly killed by a viral infection that caused him congestive heart failure. In plain English, this means that Bourg’s heart was unable to pump enough blood to maintain body flow and support his body. As a result, Bourg was placed in a coma. Thankfully, he was able to recover from that near-fatal experience, but the aftermath saw him embrace basketball and all other forms of athletics.
Bourg changed his mind – MUSIC!
“I never thought, after playing the sport my whole life, that it could be taken away from me so quickly, but that’s when the music really came into its own,” explained Town.
Music happens to be a thing in her family, both her brother and uncle have a soft spot for music. The latter helped Bourg to build a custom electric guitar allowing him to begin to learn music. However, at the time, Bourg had not recovered enough to jingle the strings of a guitar. As a result, he started learning the piano and writing songs and since then he has never looked back.
“I’m not attracted to anything other than music,” confessed the singer-songwriter.

After about three months of the show, Mack was eliminated at the live play-off stage, in which he had sung “What Makes You Beautiful.” Mack gained a fanbase called “MacPack.”
After leaving the show, Mac continued to develop himself, and during American Idol Season 15, he auditioned in Atlanta, Georgia, performing a medley of songs performed by the judges. The medley included Keith Urban’s “Stupid Boy” and “Making Memories of Us,” Jennifer Lopez’s Love Doesn’t Matter, and Harry Connick, Jr.’s “Come by Me.” This impressed the judges who gave him a ticket to Hollywood.
During the second solo tour of the show, Bourga presented his song Roses to the world. He sang the song again during the Top 14 generic episode. Bourg topped the top 5 before being eliminated in 4th place, after being ranked in 2nd place.
