Becoming a pilot at such a young age and breaking a world record on top of it, Mack’s parents are more than proud to express their happiness.

The Rutherford couple appeared to support their child’s life choices and achievements.

Mack was born to Sam and Beatrice Rutherford, who are pilots themselves. Hence, the couple’s dominance in the piloting field and their influence was one of the primary reasons for Mack’s decision to fly around the world, making such an impactful decision in his life.

BBC confirms that Sam is a ferry pilot while Beatrice is a private pilot. The Rutherford family’s boastful aviation history goes back five generations.

Mack’s great-great-grandmother was “amongst the first South African women to learn to fly.” As a British, the world’s youngest pilot also holds Belgian nationality since he lived most of his life there.

In fact, Zara is the youngest female pilot to fly solo around the world and the first person to complete a circumnavigation in a microlight aircraft.

Her journey also ended after five months that had started in Kortrijk, Belgium, on 18 August 2021 and ended on 20 January 2022. She was 19 when she held the record, CNN reported earlier this year.

And today, she witnessed her brother overcoming her record, becoming the newest youngest person to fly solo around the globe.

The elder Rutherford is quite happy to see her brother progressing and setting up examples at such a young age.

Zara is currently 20 years old and saw off her 16 years old brother in March while keeping in close contact with her throughout the trip.

Mack Rutherford Broke The Record Of Travis Ludlow To Achieve His Feat

To be precise, Travis Ludlow was the youngest person to fly solo, not Zara Rutherford in the current scenario.

Before Mack, Travis, a Briton, had flown solo at 18 years and 150 days, beating Zara’s age record. The eldest Rutherford still holds the Guinness record of being the youngest female solo pilot to travel worldwide.

Beating the age factor, Mack now stands tall as the newest youngest person to fly around the world at 17.

The young Mack was just 15 when he received his first pilot’s license. He ended his journey by landing in Sofia and greeting his well-wishers who had been there to welcome him.

Rutherford had flown above Europe, Asia, Africa, and the US for the trip across two oceans. Before landing, he was last seen near the UK at Wick in Scotland.

He is safe and sound though he will be going through professional checkup procedures to join his family for his upcoming regular days.
