List Of Native American Tribes That No Longer Exist

Native American Tribes that no longer exist include the Accokeek, Apalachee, Bidai, and more. Native American Tribes are known as Indigenous peoples of the mainland US.

Today, there are 574 federally recognized tribes but half of them are associated with Indian Reservation. The Indigenous people of the United States are mainly made up of two groups American Indians and Arctic peoples.

In the 1800s, the native people were forcibly removed from their lands and sent to Indian Territory. Many indigenous people lost their lives to disease, malnutrition, and exposure during the forced displacements.

In the 1920s, the Native people were granted American citizenship. Today’s Native American groups are independent and sovereign within their territory.

Native American Heritage Month is celebrated in November every year. The celebration helps us to understand and appreciate the rich and diverse culture, traditions, and hardships of the tribes.
