List Of Beasts In Hogwarts Legacy Ranked From Best To Worst

List of beasts in Hogwarts Legacy includes Phoenix, Hippogriff, and Unicorn. Puffskein is the most manageable beast to capture in the game with just one click.

Hogwarts Legacy has 13 beasts to capture; three will only be available after you complete a specific quest or a series of quests and story mode gameplay.

Graphorn, Phoenix, and Hippogriff are the three prized beasts that unlock after completing quests in the game.

The Game is all about a new Wizard who has been accepted into Hogwarts as a 5th-year student but now must fight evil while completing his regular school, just like the protagonist Harry Potter did in the film franchise. Still, our game character does not have a vengeance to take but has a mystery to solve.

Hogwarts Legacy was released on PS5, Windows, and XSX/S on February 10, 2023, followed by a release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on May 5, 2023.

As Hogwarts Legacy is a relatively new game (although some players might have already completed the storyline several times), you might have several questions about Beasts in the gameplay.

Beasts are creatures, some old from the film franchise and some brand new made for the game, that help the protagonist achieve offensive and defensive power on his clothing and armor. Some beasts can also be mounted and used for transport in the game.

Here we have ranked all 13 beasts Hogwarts legacy beasts in terms of clicks required to capture them in the wild.

Some beasts who do not require merely clicks but a full fledge fight or quests are the top three in our list.

13. Puffskein

Hogwarts legacy list of beasts starts with Puffskein. Puffskein is one of the easiest beasts in Hogwarts Legacy as it requires just one click to capture.

Puffskein is soft and cuddly beasts from the Harry Potter franchise. They were particularly used as pets by wizarding families and have a fluffy appearance but are very tough and can be tossed around without harm.

In the books, Puffskein is used as an ingredient in potions. They are scavengers and very easy to care for but they mostly enjoy eating bogies while their masters are sound asleep.

In Hogwarts Legacy, they are one of the easiest beasts to capture and tame. They only require one click to capture with the help of a Nab-Sack. The beast is used for its fur which can later be used to assign traits to armors and gears and upgrade them.

However, their usage in the gameplay is very limited as their fur can only be used to enhance tier-one gears and by the time player unlocks Nab-Sack they might already have tier-two or tier-three gears.

Hogwarts legacy beast locations is also a major factor to consider while ranking them. Puffskein is found in plenty of locations around the map.

The closest one is between the main campus of Hogwarts and Hogsmeade.

12. Jobberknoll

Jobberknoll requires two clicks to capture with a Nab-Sack. Jobberknolls are magnificent little birds with numerous color variations.

The magnificent beasts remain silent until the very moment of their death but at the end of their life, they will throw a long scream repeating everything they have heard in their lifetime, backward.

In the books and film series, Jobberknoll was depicted as having blue-colored feathers and were harmless. Their feathers were used in memory and truth serum and the bird fed on small insects.

However, they have much more usage and variation in Hogwarts Legacy. Jobberknoll come in different color variations with their tail feathers having black, yellow, blue, green, and special silver colors. Their feathers are used to upgrade offensive abilities in the clothing and armor of the player.

The majestic beasts are found in abundance in the game and you might want to collect quite a few of them to harvest their feathers. They are mostly found in the Forbidden Forest while heading east from North Ford Bog Entrance.

11. Giant Purple Toad

Giant Purple Toad requires three clicks of Nab-Sack to capture. Giant Purple Toads are relatively easy to capture as they do not have flight or high-speed abilities.

As the name suggests, Giant Purple Toads have purple-hued backs but come in different color variations in their bellies. The color ranges from black and purple, green and white, silver and gray, pinkish, blue, and for special occasions full-bodied white.

The ghastly beasts made an appearance in Diagon Alley before the school year started at Hogwarts but they do not have much usage and impact on the storyline of the film and book series.

However, in the newly released game Hogwrats Legacy, Giant Purple Toads are primarily used for their warts. Those Warts are used for making second-tier and third-tier upgrades in offensive armor in the game, they give pretty useful material despite it being one of the grossest.

Giant Purple toads are found on the western side of the Forbidden Forest and in Bogs. It makes sense as toads love swamp biomes.

10. Niffler

Niffler requires three clicks of Nab-Sack to capture which must not be a difficult task given they have very less to do to escape. Niffler provides fur for upgrades.

The furry and small beasts are mischievous and not to be trusted as they may cause mayhem while pursuing the shiny object which they keep in their pouch. However, they have pleasing aesthetics and are often considered cute as compared to other beasts.

In the film and book series, Nifflers appeared only in one color i.e. black. They were kept by Goblins to dig for treasure and they could hold an insanely large amount of things in the pouch in their bellies.

However, in Hogwarts Legacy, Nifflers come in different colors including blue and green, brown and white, black and purple, white and green, and single color variations include yellow, light purple, reddish-orange, and special white.

The little beasts are used for their fur which is needed in both levels 2 and 3 for offensive upgrades of armor and clothing. They drop three clumps of fur per harvest, you might want to farm more than one Niffler for your future upgrades.

Niffler in Hogwarts Legacy are found in the southern side of the Forbidden Forest but their dens are scattered all over the place in the map.

9. Mooncalf

Mooncalf also requires three clicks with Nab-Bag to capture but they can be tricky to catch. Mooncalf only spawns at night under the moonlight.

The shy creatures appear to be a cross between cows and giraffes with enormous eyes. They have long necks but possess the facial appearance of a calf with huge eyes and their body is covered in striped or patterned fur.

In the books, the magical beasts only came in grey color and were harmless. They performed complicated dance moves in broad moonlight and confused muggles with the pattern created on wheat fields with their dances. Their dung was used to grow magical plants faster and stronger but needed to be harvested before sunrise.

However, in the game version, Mooncalf comes in different colors and patterns. Most common being deep blue striped, light blue striped, brown striped, and black-spotted. A special Mooncalf of pure white color is also available in the game.

In the recently released Hogwarts Legacy, Mooncalf serves a greater purpose than it did in the film and book series. Mooncalf provides fur to the player which is required for defensive upgrades of the second and third tier.

Mooncalf can be found just above the Quidditch near the lone tree in Hogwarts Legacy, but be sure to wait until the moon shines brightly before trying to capture one.

8. Diricawl

Diricawl requires four clicks with the Nab-sack to capture. Diricawls have special abilities to vanish and re-appear to avoid danger.

Diricawls are flightless fluffy and feathery large birds. They have a special ability to disappear from a troubling environment and re-appear elsewhere. They closely resemble Dodos and muggles believe they went extinct but in reality, they disappeared and have not yet re-appeared in front of the non-wizards.

In the film and book series, Diricawls do not have much impact on the storyline and they come in just one color, bluish pink color. Diricawals have made appearances in several of the original film series and books but they do not have any usages.

However, in the newly released game, Diricawls come in multiple colors like green, orange, gray, blue (male only), and yellow (female only). Like all other beasts, the special white color feather is also available for the bird.

Unlike in the book and film series, Diricawls have important usages in the Hogwarts Legacy. It drops feathers that are needed for upgrading or assigning a special capability for tier-two enhancements.

Diricawls are found in the hills just south of the main campus of Hogwarts in the game Hogwarts Legacy. However, Diricawls have ample dens scattered around the map and you can capture more from other locations as well.

7. Kneazle

Kneazle requires four clicks to capture with the help of Nab-Sack. Kneazles are relatively easy to capture as compared to other 4-clicks beasts.

The adorable beasts resemble closely resemble cats and they were often used as pet animals by wizards and witches in the Harry Potter franchise. Kneazle passed an uncanny ability to detect suspicious and untrustworthy people but was very loyal to masters who they liked.

Kneazle are relatively larger than cats and much smaller than lions but possessed physical features from both the animals. They had independent personalities and could guard homes with their huge body size and abilities. Their hair was used to make wand cores in the film series but the wands would be much inferior than others.

Similarly, Kneazle is also used for their hair in the game Hogwarts Legacy. However, unlike in the film series, their hair has much more powerful usages and is required for applying tier-three traits to gears and armor in the game.

They are usually found in the den at south sea bog but there is also an armored troll nearby making the location risky. Other known location to find the beasts includes Northwest of Cragcroft.

6. Fwooper

Fwoopers require just four clicks with Nab-Bag to capture but their flying ability makes them one of the hardest beasts to capture in Hogwarts Legacy.

Fwoopers are small colorful African birds with the ability to drive people crazy with their songs. They came in four color variations in the book and film series which were Orange, Pink, Lime-Green, and Yellow. Their feathers were used as quills in Hogwarts.

Hogwarts Legacy portrays the bird in six multi-colored variations which are blue and green, yellow and pink, green and yellow-green, pink and magenta, pink and purple, and the special all-white color. The bird is used for harvesting its feathers.

Unlike in the film and book series, Fwoopers feathers have much more usage in Hogwarts Legacy than just being a tool for writing. Fwooper feathers are used for level two and three defense upgrades in gears and armor.

Fwoppers are found in dens scattered all around the map of Hogwarts Legacy but the nearest and easiest dens are in the hills just above the Hamlet of Keenbridge.

5. Thestral

Thestral requires five clicks with the Nab-Sack to capture. Threstrals can be one of the trickiest beasts to capture as they fly off almost all the time.

Thestrals are skeleton-based creatures capable of flight with their lean and thin wings. They can only be seen by people who have already witnessed death and are to be handled only by experienced witches and wizards due to their aggressiveness.

The mighty creatures come only in black in the book and film series and had the ability to long and fast flights. Their tail hair was used to make the strongest and most powerful wands known to the wizard kind, the Elder Wand. They also possessed a great sense of direction.

Thestral in Hogwarts Legacy comes in three main colors, Dark Grey, Yellow Green, and special white color. They are used to harvest hair and a special DLC pack combined with pre-order will let players mount the airborne gentle giants. The rest of the players will only be able to harvest hair and not ride their boney beasts.

Their hair is used for level two and level three of defensive upgrades in gears. Only one hair per upgrade is required on both levels. Thestrals can be found in the northmost part of the map in the Nothford Bog in the Swamp Biome.

3. Unicorn

Unicorn requires the most clicks to capture with the Nab-Sacks which is six clicks per beast. Unicorns spawn only one at a time in one specific place on the whole map.

Unicorns were considered one of the worst-kept secrets of the Wizard world as muggles directly related Unicorns with magic and knew all about the creature. Their hair was used for making wands which were consistent and very hard to turn to dark arts but were not the most powerful ones.

Unicorn blood granted immortality but the usage was considered a heinous crime. People who drank Unicorn’s blood would be immortal but would live a half-life filled with a curse. They preferred women’s touch and were very fast to run.

In the Hogwarts Legacy, Unicorns are one of the most difficult beasts to capture because they only spawn in one location in the forest next to the upper hogs field, and only one spawns at one time. They also require six clicks and given their incredible speed it can be very hard to perform.

The majestic creatures are used for harvesting their hair which can be used to make defense upgrades. Only one hair is required for each level-three defense upgrade.

4. Hippogriff

Hippogriffs require five clicks to capture using a Nab-Sack but they are only available after completing a mid-game quest.

Hippogriffs are majestic creatures with a very proud personality, insulting the eagle and lion cross could be the very last thing one can do in their lifetime. They were primarily used as modes of transportation in the film and book series.

In the Hogwarts Legacy, Hippogriffs get unlocked after completing the main quest “The High Keep.” However, once the quest is complete you can catch more Hippogriffs from a den located in the Forbidden Forest, around the area where Harry met Buckbeak for the first time.

Their feather is used for level-three offensive upgrades. Their feathers are also one of the most expensive Beast products available at the in-game store with a price tag of 700 gold per feather.

Apart from using their feather, Hippogriffs can also be used as a flying mount and used to cover long distances quickly. They are incredible fliers and may give you a nostalgic feeling from your childhood.

2. Graphorn

Graphorns are part of a main quest and unlock towards the end of the story mode. Multiple Graphors can be acquired after completing the quest.

Graphorns are very large creatures with horns and tentacles on their face. They are known for their aggressive nature and incredible strength. Although they are extremely dangerous, the Ministry of Magic has only listed them as “XXXX” beasts in the book and film series.

The beast is known to have one of the strongest skins, stronger than that dragon, and the ability to repel almost all spells. Although there are several mentions of the ginormous creature, it never made an appearance in the original film series.

In Hogwarts Legacy, Graphorns is one of the last beasts to get unlocked and they can be used as a mount. Although it does not fly like other beasts, it can easily charge through hills and mountains but can sometimes get stuck while moving through dense forests.

They can be obtained only after a main quest  “San Bakar’s Trial” is completed and they must be fought relentlessly before the player can put it inside the Nab-Sack.

Graphorns are found in the southernmost part of the map in a pit where the initial Graphorn was located. You can visit the area multiple times to get a number of Graphors. Its horn is used for putting level-three upgrades in offensive armor.

1. Phoenix

Phoenix is only unlocked after the player completes all main and side quests from Room of Requirement. Hogwarts Legacy has only one Phoenix in the game.

The majestic creature was a pet of Albus Dumbledore in the film and book series, it has incredible lifting capabilities and healing powers. Phoenix is not technically immortal but they erupt in flame when they pass away and a new one is born from the ashes and the cycle continues.

The colorful beast is one of the most majestic and rare beasts of Hogwarts Legacy as there is only one Phoenix in the entire game. The beasts also do not spawn on the map but need to be unlocked after completing all the main and side quests from Room of Requirement.

Phoenix feather is used to upgrade gears to defensive level three and it is also the only material not available for purchase from the in-game Brood and Peck shop. The bird also comes in just one color, red body and yellowish feathers towards the tail.
