Linda Kasabian Obituary
On June 21, 1949, Linda Darlene Drouin was born in Biddeford, Maine, and grew up in the New England town of Milford, New Hampshire. Her mother, Joyce Taylor, was a stay-at-home mom, and her father, Rosaire Drouin, was a construction worker with French Canadian ancestry.
They were financially strapped and came from a working-class family. When Linda was still a little child, her father left the family because of their frequent arguments. Soon after, her parents both got remarried, and her father relocated to Miami, Florida.
The oldest of her siblings, Linda’s mother subsequently acknowledged that she was unable to give her adolescent daughter adequate attention because she had so many other kids and stepkids to take care of.
. Joyce stated: “I couldn’t take the time to hear about her issues. I’m mostly to blame for Linda’s situation.”
Those who knew Linda, also known as Kasabian, thought of her as a bright and successful student who was also a romantic with starry eyes. She was sweet and reserved but needed to grow up quickly.
Due to disagreements with her stepfather, Jake Byrd, who she claimed mistreated both her and her mother, she dropped out of high school and moved out at the age of 16. “Searching for God,” Kasabian departed for the west coast. She wed Robert Peasley at the age of 16, but the union was short-lived.
