Born in 1954 in Patna, Bihar, India, Anil Agarwal earned his wealth as founder and chairman of the Vedanta Resources Corporation, one of the biggest mining and non-ferrous metal companies in India. In 1976, he started Sterlite Industries, a company working in the industrial sector, and later on, in 1986, Agarwal founded Vedanta Resources, which is the first Indian company that has achieved a listing on the London Stock Exchange.
