Lazarus is the stage name of Kamran Rashid Khan, an American rapper originally from Pakistan. Kamran Rashid Khan was born in Detroit, Michigan, with a Muslim family in Pakistan. He attended Wayne State University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Biology degree and Michigan State University, where he studied medicine.
While studying medicine, Lazarus had a career in hip-hop. He started to crack without a stage name. But he later changed his name to Lazarus because of hatred, crime and racial stereotypes. He told The Source in an interview that after 9/11 he felt that the opportunity to become a rapper was disappearing and his stage name was reminiscent of a resurrected biblical character.
Lazarus started freaking out at a Detroit radio station. He has won many rap fights in FM 95.5 and FM 105.9. His single also played on FM 98. Lazarus began mixing and performing at the Detroit venues, including channels for G-Unit and D12 in. performed by Charlie Leduff.
