In the third season of Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County, Lauren Conrad broke off her connection with Montag because she believed Pratt and Montag were behind rumors that Conrad and her ex-boyfriend Jason Wahler were on a sex video.
This conflict remained all the way through Conrad’s final seasons. Brody Jenner, a fellow cast member whom Conrad briefly dated, said that their romance was embellished for the program. In January 2007, Conrad was chosen as the first spokesperson for the “mark.” brand of Avon Products, which appealed to young women.
Actress Ashley Greene takes over in June 2010. Conrad also made a brief appearance as herself in the 2007 comedy Epic Movie, which also starred Carmen Electra.
In 2008, Conrad and Port began working as interns at People’s Revolution, Kelly Cutrone’s public relations firm.
After The Hills’ fourth season ended in December 2008, Conrad expressed her intention to leave the program and pursue other career opportunities. However, at the producers’ request, she did film an additional ten episodes for the upcoming season to finish her storylines.
Conrad made her farewell appearance on the show in May 2009, attending Montag and Pratt’s wedding after giving the mid-season finale of the fifth season a lot of thought. Conrad acknowledged that the producers pushed her to reconcile with Montag throughout the course of the season.
When they wouldn’t let a different result happen, she expressed her displeasure in the Cosmopolitan issue from July 2009.
