Lauren Conrad ended her connection with Montag in the third season of Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County after suspecting Montag and Pratt of circulating allegations about a sex tape involving Conrad and her ex-boyfriend Jason Wahler. This conflict raged on for the rest of Conrad’s tenure on the show.
Conrad dated another castmate, Brody Jenner, for a short time, and she said that the show’s editing stretched their relationship for dramatic effect. Conrad was named the first spokeswoman for Avon Products’ “mark.” brand, which targeted young women, in January 2007.
In June 2010, she was succeeded by actress Ashley Greene. Conrad also made a sarcastic cameo appearance as herself opposite Carmen Electra in the 2007 comedy film Epic Movie.
Conrad and Port began interning at People’s Revolution, a public relations business owned by Kelly Cutrone, in 2008.
Conrad declared her wish to quit The Hills after the fourth season ended in December 2008 and pursue other professional prospects. However, at the producers’ request, she shot ten extra episodes for the following season to wrap up her storylines.
Conrad made her final appearance on the program in May 2009, when she attended Montag and Pratt’s wedding after much debate during the fifth season’s mid-season finale.
Conrad revealed in the July 2009 edition of Cosmopolitan that she felt forced by the producers throughout the season to reunite with Montag, and she expressed her displeasure when they refused to allow a different outcome.
