What Happened To David Brown
David Brown, a 15-year-old dual star of Portlaoise GAA, died in a quad bike accident in a wooded area near Emo, Co Laois, on Easter Sunday.
Emergency services were called, but Brown was found with fatal injuries.
Brown was an accomplished sportsperson and had played hurling for Laois in the Celtic Challenge competition against Kildare on Saturday and at all levels with Portlaoise GAA.
He was also part of the Laois minor hurling panel that defeated Antrim on Friday.
His brother Conor is part of the Laois senior football panel that defeated Wexford on the same day. Brown’s school, Portlaoise CBS, paid tribute to him on their app and offered their condolences to the family.
The GAA community has expressed shock and sadness, with Portlaoise GAA Club remembering Brown as a vibrant, fearless, skillful, determined, and proud shining star on every team he played for.
The Gardai are investigating the incident.
