On their first date, Reid obtained a companion’s vehicle to take her to a film, yet the vehicle didn’t have a starter, so the two drove the vehicle. Reid said the two of them dismissed it.
“There are minutes that turn an actual existence, and that stay with you until the final gasp,” Reid reviewed. “That was one of those minutes for me.”
Yet, religion isolated the two, and Reid — the two Reids later changed over to Mormonism — was told by her dad that the two couldn’t be hitched, inciting a fistfight with his future dad in-law in the front yard of their home.
“It was definitely not a reasonable battle — he was littler than I was,” he said.
The couple ran off, got hitched and went through the night at a motel in Mesquite, Nev.

Rory, their eldest son, was an elected commissioner for Clark County, Nevada, of which he became chairman and 2010 Democratic nominee in the election for Governor of Nevada. Another son also ran for municipal office in Cottonwood Heights, Utah.
Reid and her family reside in the Anthem area of Henderson, Nevada. Reid and his wife converted to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints while he was a college student. In a 2001 interview, he said, “I think it is much easier to be a good member of the Church and a Democrat than a good member of the Church and a Republican.”

Reid on 1st January 2015, was injured while exercising in his home a piece of equipment he was using broke, causing him to fall. Reid suffered broken ribs, broken facial bones and was at risk of permanent vision loss in his right eye, as a result of the incident. Reid underwent a surgery on 26th January 2015, to remove a blood clot from his right eye and repair facial bones.
