Jerome and his wife Lacey have three children together, including two sons, Caden and Eli, and their daughter Millie. Jerome is an American anesthesiologist and a vice admiral in the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps who currently serves as the 20th Surgeon General of the United States.
Prior to becoming Surgeon General, Jerome served as the Indiana State Health Commissioner, from 2014 to 2017. On the month of June 29, 2017, President Donald Trump nominated Adams to become Surgeon General of the United States. He was confirmed by the United States Senate on August 3, 2017. Jerome assumed office on September 5, 2017.

Lacey has survived skin cancer twice, Lacey has been outspoken about her illness and blames her years spent in tanning beds and laying out in the sun as a teenager as the reason. Lacey was first diagnosed with melanoma in the year 2009, after noticing a dark mole on her thigh.
The cancer was detected early and Lacey had surgery to remove it. In the year 2018, cancer struck her again after she noticed lumps in her groin area. At the end of March 2018, Lacey had surgery to remove 12 cancerous lymph nodes and their surrounding tissue.
Lacey then started immunotherapy, a new type of cancer treatment that uses parts of a person’s body’s own immune system to destroy cancer cells. In May 2019, she received her last immunotherapy treatment and has since made a full recovery.
