Kym Whitley siblings Kyle Whitley and Scott Whitley are architects. Kym was raised in California alongside her two brothers.
The American comedian is easily recognizable from her recurrent appearances on Larry David’s popular HBO series Curb Your Enthusiasm as Monina. She is also known for playing the role of Suga in the cult following of Ice Cube’s hit film Next Friday.
From a young age, she knew she was blessed with the gift to make others laugh after crossing ways with Redd Foxx, who told her she had the comedic goods. Soon, Whitley discovered her true calling and commenced living her dream as a stand-up comedian.
In a very short time, the artist became Hollywood’s go-to-girl following her smooth transition as a skillful, comedic actress in many famous TV shows, such as CBC’s Two Broke Girls, ABC’s My Wife and Kids, TV Land’s Soul Man, and Disney’s That’s So Raven.
Unlike Whitley, her father and older brothers are associated with architecture. Despite growing up in a family of architects, she opted to shine her crafts in the entertainment industry and the rest is history.
Kym Has Two Brothers
Kym Whitley has two siblings Kyle Whitley and Scott Whitley. Kyle and Scott are experienced architects who have carried on the family legacy.
In 1963, the comedian’s father and uncle jointly formed Whitley/Whitley Architects and Planners. And even though the company’s founding members have since passed, her two older brothers carry on the family business and are actively involved in architecture.
Scott Whitley
Scott is a registered architect and serves as the president and co-owner of Whitley/Whitley Architects. He joined the firm in November 1987, soon after graduating with a Bachelor of Architecture from Howard University in 1986.
He is the second generation to lead the firm. Serving as the company’s president, he is responsible for securing new projects, overseeing the firm’s big picture, budget, and staff, networking to meet potential clients, and ultimately representing the company.
According to his LinkedIn profile, he was also associated with Dorsky Hodgson Parrish Yue as an architect from 2005 to 2007. He is a happily married man and has grown-up children. His daughter, Tyler Kay Whitley, was born on November 1, 1997, and is an actress.

Scott’s younger daughter, Hannah Whitley, 22, is also an actor, dancer, and singer. Currently repped by Stewart Talent New York and Todd Diener at 111 Media, she is notable for playing Eurydice in the national touring production of the Tony Award-winning musical Hadestown.
Kyle Whitley
Kyle is a registered architect who obtained his Bachelor of Architecture from Howard University, like his brother. As his father and uncle are both architects, he and his siblings have been exposed to architecture all their life.
Watching the office’s drafting process, model-making, and rendering inspired him to choose architecture. He joined Whitley/Whitley Architects in April 1990 in Cleveland, Ohio, and served there until September 1995.
He is no longer with the family company, but Kyle is still prominent in the industry, as suggested by his LinkedIn bio. In addition, he is also a practicing vegan, which his younger sister, comedian Kym, frequently mentions on her Instagram account.
Whitley has a beautiful daughter named Gabriella Union, with whom he occasionally shares loving pictures on his Facebook.
Moreover, he is extremely close to his brother, sister, nieces, and nephews and proudly shares their achievements with his followers on his socials.
She Was Raised In California
Kym Whitley was born to her parents Kaysonia and William Whitley in Shaker Heights, Ohio. Her father is an architect and business executive born on April 29, 1934.

In the 1960s, he joined his brother, James, in founding Whitley/Whitley Architects and Planners LLC, an architectural and planning firm specializing in sports facility design, institutional design, and commercial housing design.
The firm was established in 1963 and has been focused on urban areas. Since then, it has actively provided architectural and planning services to local, state, and federal public agencies, private entities, and community groups.

She Has A Son Joshua
Kym Whitley son Joshua Kaleb Whitley is 12 years old. She adopted her ever-so-cute son in January 2011 in the most bizarre way possible.
She unexpectedly gained custody of Joshua as he was left to her after a troubled woman, who she had mentored for around 15 years, mysteriously ran away from the hospital soon after giving birth. She only left Whitley’s contact information.
In 2015, the comedian told Today she only had an hour to settle where she wanted to adopt the newborn baby boy. She also shared that her parents were in town then and helped her decide to bring the little boy into her life.
The actress mentioned several times that she was a party girl before her son came into her life. However, once the little bundle of joy came around, he changed her life, adding apple sauce and minivans into her world.
Joshua celebrated his 10th birthday on January 9, 2021, and his loving mother made sure to wish him most sweetly. “I can’t believe 10 years have gone by so quickly! I couldn’t imagine my life without you. I love you to the moon!” Kym wrote on Instagram.
Fans may remember the little boy from his appearance in the reality television series Raising Whitley alongside his family. He is available on Instagram under the username @joshuawhitley11, where he shares cute pictures of himself and other family members.
