Kyle Palmieri New York Islanders
In the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Kyle was taken 26th overall by the Anaheim Ducks. During the 2010–11 season, on November 3, 2010, the Anaheim Ducks recalled Kyle from the American Hockey League (AHL)’s Syracuse Crunch to play in his NHL debut at a home game against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Palmieri would go in to score his first NHL goal in that game against the Lightning’s Dan Ellis.
Kyle, who began his second professional season by scoring six points in his first two games of the 2011–12 season, including a hat-trick, to lead the Syracuse Crunch to victories, was named the AHL Player of the Week for the period ending October 16, 2011.
On June 26, 2015, Kyle was traded by the Ducks to his hometown club, the New Jersey Devils, in exchange for second and third-round draft picks in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. On July 7, 2016, Palmieri signed a five-year contract to remain with the Devils. On January 19, 2019, Palmieri was named to his first All-Star Game, replacing his teammate Taylor Hall due to the latter suffering an injury.
On April 7, 2021, Kyle was traded by the Devils to the New York Islanders along with Travis Zajac in exchange for a first-round pick in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft, a conditional 2022 fourth-round pick, and forwards A. J. Greer and Mason Jobst.
