Nomakula “Kuli” Roberts was a South African actress, TV and radio presenter and lifestyle journalist. She is best known for co-presenting What Not To Wear, The Real Goboza and TrendingSA. She was a co-host on SABC 1’s Real Goboza with controversial media personality Phat Joe and later SABC 3’s Trending SA with Nina Hastie, Musa Mthombeni and Pabi Moloi.
After graduating from the University of Cape Town, Kuli began her career as a journalist working at Fair Lady magazine. She then moved to DRUM magazine as a beauty editor, YOU magazine as a fashion and beauty editor and the Sunday World newspaper as a Lifestyle journalist.
Kuli presented the reality television show What Not To Wear from 2004, and the celebrity gossip magazine show Headline in 2010. She also played a fictional version of herself in the Mzansi Magic telenovela Inkaba in 2012. She competed in the sixth season of the SABC3 reality competition Strictly Come Dancing with her partner Sylvester Sefotlhelo in 2013.

Media personality and actress Kuli Roberts passed away on Wednesday 9 February 2022, at the age of 49. According to City Press, the 49-year-old allegedly collapsed and had a seizure on the set of her new show.
The Roberts and Mboya family confirmed her death in the following statement to the media: “It is with profound regret and sadness that we confirm the untimely passing of our dear daughter, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt Nomakula ‘Kuli’ Roberts (49). She sadly passed away late last night (9 February) in Johannesburg.”
“Affectionately known and loved by her friends, family, and the South African entertainment industry at large, Kuli Roberts was an all-round media personality who was always the life of any gathering. Her love for family, friends, work and very importantly her community is well known.
“Kuli leaves behind her two children, her beloved grandchild, her parents and three siblings.

In an interview with MacG, Kuli Roberts spoke about her weight loss, saying she lost weight for the movie Angeliena in which she played the character Tina who is skinny.
“I was doing a movie called Angeliena, and this character is called Tina and she lives in a caravan, and she is poor, and she’s a prostitute, and she is practically a street person, and she is skinny, she’s not obese…so i was skinny for the role. They call it method accting,” She said. “So yeah i lost weight for the movie and also all the changes in my life”
The host said, “you lost weight before the movie,” to which Kuli said, “I think it is all the stress in my life. Also i’m the kind of person who will stay for three days then reliase i haven’t eaten.”
