Krystle Matthews, a Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate from South Carolina, can be heard chatting to an inmate on a recorded line, according to leaked audio on Twitter.
On that call, Matthews advocated dirty political tactics, such as Democrats running for local office as Republicans, and used racially offensive language. She also acknowledged that she would be open to receiving donations from criminal enterprises like drug trafficking.
She is using foul language and racially offensive phrases while discussing her willingness to breach numerous laws. She told “Sincerely, these aren’t the same black individuals I knew growing up.”
“These black people are unfamiliar to me. I’m black because I don’t know what kind of black people they are. Can I now speak logically? I might be able to. I can go about in all kinds of circles, but at my core, I’m a n****. I adore individuals of color. In my tribe, I feel the safest.”

In the clip, Krystle Matthews (D-South Carolina) can be heard talking about tactics like getting Democrats to pose as Republicans and run for office: “We need some covert sleepers.”
Then, she invites illicit donors to support her campaign by giving straw donations, which are political contributions made to candidates under a different identity.
Matthews also promoted other electoral crimes, like swiping rivals’ yard signs. Matthews says, “We need some individuals who can wear all-black attire at night and remove the f****** yard signs when they are dozing off.”

Krystle Matthews currently resides in Ladson, South Carolina, but was born in Sandusky, Ohio. She completed her education at the University of Cincinnati, Trident Technical College, and Bowling Green State University.
In addition to the Operations and Management committee, Matthews is a member of the Medical, Military, Public, and Municipal Affairs Committee.
Since 2008, she has been a planner for Boeing. She has been sitting in the 117th District of the South Carolina House of Representatives since 2018.
