Fight with Shinsuke Nakamura

Kota Ibushi is the younger of the two contenders and the challenger of the Nakamura title, the IWGP Intercontinental title. Ibushi has worked all over the world to hone his specialty as a top-flight wrestler. He is prepared for lucha libre, karate and boxing, which unites him to his style. His character is a bright red young man, who hopes to defeat veteran Nakamura and prepare to take on younger, hungrier wrestlers in hopes of taking control of the best times in their advancement.

Since his last match with Nakamura, Ibushi moved from NJPW’s junior heavyweight division to their heavyweight zone due to a power outage and extended free time.

On day four of NJPW G1 Peak 23, Ibushi and Nakamura had an amazing match against the other matches of the year (Ibushi lost). However, this match extremely settled Ibushi as a major test.

This year, Ibushi moved from the Jr. Heavyweight Division to the Heavyweight Division. His G1 match with Nakamura is what made this change worthwhile. Ibushi isn’t a big man, and he’s known for his incredible aerobatics, but on the other hand, he’s an amazing tradesman, and his match with Nakamura showed he’s solid in the heavyweight division.

To truly become the best person, Ibushi needs a major win on a major occasion, and a better title wouldn’t hurt either. In Nakamura, New Japan’s biggest show of the year for the IWGP Intercontinental Title is just the win Ibushi needs.
