Dismisses critical race theory in viral video with daughter

Encouraging his daughter as well as others to dismiss the theory and simply respect one another regardless of their race, Kory Yeshua’s TikTok video has since gone viral and garnered over a million views ever since it was posted on social media.

Yeshua is seen sitting with his daughter in the video as he tells her that she “can be anything in this world” that she wants to be. The father argues against critical race theory – an ideology that re-examines society through a racial perspective and states that race is a constructed concept used predominantly to exploit people of color. Propagators of the theory are also of the belief that America and its foundations are inherently racist, but Yeshua seems to make it a point to debunk these claims in his video.

Yeshua, who often criticizes Black Lives Matter on his TikTok posts, continues to tell his daughter in the video, “Yeah, and it doesn’t matter if you’re Black or White or any color,” and the little girl responds with a smile. Her father then continues, “How we treat people is based on who they are and not what color they are,” and soon the little girl adds: “And if they’re nice and smart.” Yeshua then tells his viewers, “See, this is how children think right here. Critical race theory wants to end that, [but] not with my children, it’s not gonna happen.”

Yeshua then adds, “My baby is going to know that no matter what she wants to be in life, all she has to do is work hard and she can become that.” His daughter then chimes in with excitement, adding “Work hard! Even if you don’t know anyone, you can make a friend.” In response, Yeshua laughs hard at his daughter’s comments, adding, “Yeah, you can make friends no matter what color they are. So we need to stop CRT point-blank. Period. Children do not see skin color, man, they love everybody.”

Posted on Yeshua’s TikTok account on May 19, the video already has more than 20,000 views on the platform. Yeshua’s channel brags 270,000 followers and sees hundreds of videos of the commentator encouraging conservative values and criticizing leftist movements, including Black Lives Matter.

Conservative filmmaker Robby Starbuck was one of the firsts to share the video on Twitter on Tuesday, June 1 as he captioned it, “One of the best videos opposing Critical Race Theory that you’ll ever see.”

The video caught rapid attention after Starbuck posted it on Twitter, and soon many hopped on the opportunity to slam critical race theory, the inclusion of which in the school curriculum is shaping up to be a major cultural battle ahead of next year’s midterm elections.

Starbuck also shared to his almost 200k Twitter followers, “It’s been so wonderful to see this video get the attention it deserves. I’ve set Kory (the Dad) up w/ a ton of TV interviews and he’s really excited to get their message of love + unity out as we battle to kick critical race theory out of schools. Keep an eye out for these stars.”

Republicans, who are opposing the teaching of the theory in schools, contend it divides Americans. Democrats and their allies maintain that progress is unlikely without examining the root causes of disparity in the US.

The issue has taken a flaming turn ever since President Joe Biden rescinded the Donald Trump-signed executive order banning federal contractors from conducting racial sensitivity training. Biden rescinded the order the day he took office, after Trump’s ban was challenged in court. Legal scholars and other academics have long studied critical race theory for decades, but it was Trump’s ban in 2020 that heightened the dispute surrounding the issue.

Yeshua’s video comes less than a month after Republican lawmakers once again slammed the theory, after South Carolina Rep Ralph Norman said at a news conference that “we’re in a cultural warfare today.”

Joined by six other members of the all-Republican House Freedom Caucus, Norman continued, “Critical race theory asserts that people with White skin are inherently racist, not because of their actions, words or what they actually believe in their heart — but by virtue of the color of their skin.” Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colorado) also added that “Democrats want to teach our children to hate each other,” in an attempt to decry the teaching of critical race theory in American schools, which further divides the nation, they claim.
