Police from the Kogi State Police Command have arrested two individuals they believe were involved in a kidnapping.
SP William Ovye Aya, the public relations officer for the police force in Kogi state, has said that the suspects were engaged in the abduction of Yahaya Shagari, chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi East.
Aya said, “The joint security operatives led by the Area Commander, Idah ACP Alexander Asagade, stormed the suspected kidnappers’ hideout in the forest, and upon seeing the operatives, the hoodlums engaged them in a gun duel.”
The victim was rescued unharmed, one of the suspects was killed, and two others were apprehended.
The operation was successful because of the reliable information concerning the suspected kidnappers’ hiding place in the forest.
Noting that CP Akeem Yusuf, Commissioner of Police for Kogi State, had praised the Area Commander and the joint security operatives for their bravery during the operation, he advised them to keep up the pressure on criminals in their jurisdiction.
